Spring Concerts

A Celebration of Outstanding Music

Our fabulous musicians and choir performed a wonderful Spring Concert on a glorious sunny evening in March. Pieces by our Senior Choir, Flute Ensemble, Guitar Group, and String Ensembles were enjoyed by a full audience of family and friends.

After the show our Chair of Governors, Liz Court, presented flowers of thanks to our instrumental teachers and to Miss Sherring, Music Leader, for all of their exceptional work culminating in our recent national award.

Then on Monday morning our entire Y3 performed as a 60 piece ukulele band to parents and carers in a very special assembly.

Music Teacher Awards Success!

Woodcroft Awarded ‘Best Music Department’music-teacher-awards-for-excellence

At a gala ceremony held on 12th March at The Grange St. Paul’s Hotel, Woodcroft won the award for ‘Best School Music Department’ 2015!

Mr Tallon (Headteacher) and Miss Sherring (Music Leader) collected the award on behalf of the school. They were joined at the prize giving dinner by fellow teachers; Miss Blythe, Mr Huckerby and Assistant Head Mrs Valoti. Also on the Woodcroft table was Lynn Holman-Fox, CEO of BEAT, Barnet’s Music Hub. The director of one of our sponsors, TutorHunt, and members of his family were also with us to share our success.

To be recognised by this award, as one of the best schools for music in the country, is an absolutely fantastic achievement. It is a credit to Ms Sherring and the whole music team, but most of all the pupils! Their dedication and enthusiasm to learn make it all worthwhile.

We had a fantastic night at the Music Awards, hosted by Music Teacher Magazine. Take a look at the photos below (click to enlarge). For more details about the awards visit the Music Awards website by clicking here.

Woodcroft would like to thank the Barnet Education Arts Trust (BEAT) and their instrument teachers for the support and opportunities they provide. We also owe gratitude to our sponsors Coreco and Tutorhunt for their on-going assistance, enabling us to provide inclusive music at Woodcroft.
