Last year Woodcroft Primary School was selected to become a prestigious Trinity Champion Centre for the 2021 – 2022 academic year. This was in recognition of our successful delivery of the Bronze Arts Award; a nationally accredited Trinity College qualification. Last week Trinity sent along one of their photographers to capture a day in the life of the Arts at Woodcroft. Take a look below at some of the activities that they enjoyed on Wednesday.
In the photographs you can can see our dance team rehearsing for the upcoming Barnet Dance Festival and Great Big Dance Off events. Year 3 were in the hall demonstrating the ukulele skills that they learn as part of their weekly whole class instrumental lessons. Year 4 were taking part in choral singing as part of our exciting music curriculum. Then one of our musical instrumentalists was observed practising the trumpet. On that day we also welcomed international pianist, Hui-Ling, to perform pieces from Chopin in a special musical recital. Finally, Year 6 were involved in the visual arts that form part of their Arts Award portfolios. In these sessions our pupils plan, deliver and evaluate their own lessons that are delivered groups of their peers.
To celebrate 25 Years of World Book Day we are having a special themed week all about Rudyard Kipling’s classic children’s story, The Jungle Book. To begin our week, today we were visited by M&M Theatre who performed a live, stage version of the story to KS2 on Monday. They will be performing to KS1 in Friday. Our week will then culminate with our special Jungle Day on Friday 4th March!
This week we sent out a paper copy of the Newsletter with a World Book Day Voucher attached! Issue 441 contained lots of information about the exciting events planned for our Jungle Book Week.
Parents should also check emails to ensure they are receiving our regular communications; including a digital version of the Weekly News every Friday!
