Chick Watch 2016

Year 3 have begin their project to hatch and raise chickens from eggs. See below for updates of their progress:

This is what the children in Year 3 said…

Calli: “We have the chicks because in Science we are learning about life cycles and the chicks help us. On the first day nothing happened but the next day one of them hatched and when we came in on Wednesday the rest of them hatched. I am really enjoying having the chicks because they are really cute and fluffy.”
Caitlin: “I love having the chicks because we got to name them and I am looking forward to holding and looking after them.”
Shyomi: “So far I have enjoyed my experience because I have never seen a chick hatch before. I am looking forward to holding the chicks and stroking them!”
Ethan: “I am enjoying them being in the class because it’s so exciting watching them hatch and they also help us understand the life cycle of a chicken.”
Ariton: “So far it is a great experience with the chicks because it was very exciting watching them hatch. When they were running around in the brooder box I found it really cute.”

The chicks stay with us for two weeks. When they get too large we have to say a sad goodbye.
