We are pleased to announce that Woodcroft has been awarded The Primary Science Quality Mark!
The PSQM Award scheme enables schools to work together to share good practice and is supported by professional development led by local experts. It is led by the University of Hertfordshire in collaboration with the Primary Science Teaching Trust.
Jane Turner, PSQM National Director said: “Gaining a Primary Science Quality Award is a significant achievement for a school. The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each awarded school is very high. Children are engaging with great science both in and outside the classroom, developing positive attitudes towards science as well as secure scientific understanding and skills. Science subject leaders, their colleagues, head teachers, children, parents and governors should be very proud.”
We would like to thank Miss Stubbings, our Science Leader at Woodcroft, for all of her hard work over the year; developing the subject, collecting evidence and submitting our successful application.

S Rock Are Back! World Cup Special
Level Up! was the title of this year’s Y6 Show, and on Thursday night, to a packed audience of family and friends, they staged an outstanding leavers production.
In the story, a group of video game obsessed children were transported inside their console and had to overcome a series of challenges to escape. Full of song, dance and humour, the show captured all of our Y6’s talents. They also learnt some important messages along the way!
Well done to the pupils and staff for entertaining us so creatively. Special mention must go to Mr Guest and Miss Maynard who wrote this year’s production, not forgetting Mr Huckerby, who composed and recorded the original songs along with Mr Guest. We also need to recognise the hard work, and commitment, of all of our staff and pupils for bringing these wonderful productions to life. Mrs Ditchman and Mrs Medjhi worked tirelessly on costume and props. Well done to Charlie and Zaheer, our Y6 technical crew, for flawless light and sound effects.
Good luck to you all at high school!
Woodcroft Chair Awarded Governor of the Year 2018
Liz Court, Woodcroft’s fantastic Chair of Governors, was awarded Barnet Governor of the Year at the 2018 Barnet Schools Awards. Liz received her award at a presentation evening, hosted by Barnet Southgate College and attended by The Mayor. This is a truly well deserved accolade to mark an amazing 50 Years of service to Woodcroft and its community! Liz joined as a teacher in 1969, both her children attended Woodcroft, and she started on the Governing Body immediately upon retirement. She has been Chair for the past 9 years and has also volunteered as a weekly reading support throughout that time!
I am sure that you will join the school in congratulating Liz on her achievements and thanking her for an astounding 50 years of dedicated and continuous commitment to Woodcroft.
Year 6 headed off on their wilderness adventure camp this week and had a fantastic time under canvas.
This was a real back-to-nature experience they will never forget. They have learned cooking, tracking, trapping, camouflage, first aid, survival skills, rescue techniques, archery and shelter building! They have lit fires, played woodland games, eaten bushtucker and even rescued their teachers from a plane crash! What an amazing week…
