Spotacular Children in Need Day

spotacular cin 2016Woodcroft had a ‘Spotacular’ day on Friday 18th November when we took part in Children in Need. We started our events before school, with choir and guitar club busking on the playground.

All of the pupils and staff had made a donation and arrived at school dressed in their spotty themed costumes. Evan Mrs Court, our Chair of Governors, joined in the fun. We also had a crazy assembly where the teachers had to do a ‘spotty’ challenge with velcro balls. It was all very exciting as you can seen from the photos below. Thank you to everyone who made a donation. We raised a grand total of £575!

At the end of the school day, Friends of Woodcroft had organised an International Cake Sale with donations from across the school community. Parents had baked traditional cakes or decorated them in the colors of their national flags. The sale raised over £300 with proceeds being put towards the purchase of dual language books for the school library.

Year 4 studied photographer Kike Calvo – click on the image to view a gallery

Last week we enjoyed a visual arts focus to our lessons. From Nursery to Y6 each class studied a particular artist and produced some stunning work. Take a look down the Gallery Corridor in school or on the Treehouse to see what your child was up to.

Year 4 studied photographer Kike Calvo to produce these amazing images during Art Week to support their National Nutcracker project with the Royal Opera House and Royal Ballet. They projected backgrounds in our 4D immersive suite and thought carefully about the lighting that they needed to use to emphasise movement. Take a look at their gallery page by clicking here

They were also runners-up in the North London 6-a-side tournament. This award is a fitting climax to what has been quite an amazing year for Football at Woodcroft! Congratulations must also go to Mr Judd and Miss Clarke for their support and coaching of the team.
