Gold Sports & Games for Woodcroft

Woodcroft Receives Top Sports Award

sports goldIt has just been announced that Woodcroft has been awarded the top accolade for school sport and games: The School Games GOLD Award!

The Sainsbury’s School Games Mark is a Government led scheme to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are assessed across bronze, silver and gold levels of the quality mark. Each year we have improved our award from Bronze (2012-13), Silver (2013-14) up to Gold (2014-15), a great achievement!

Only the top 5% of schools achieve GOLD and can demonstrate that pupils have the widest range of clubs and activities in which to participate.  Woodcroft has also embraced external sporting opportunities and established strong pupil sport leadership programmes. Thank you to all the parents and carers who have supported PE and Games helping us to achieve this fantastic award. Finally, well done to our excellent Sports Team; Ms Charalambous, Mr Raw and Mr Judd for all of their hard work and commitment.

Report written by Tallulah Taylor (Year 4)

On Monday 22nd of June 2015, Year 4 went to Paradise Wildlife Park. We hoped that the weather would be nice and it as it turned out it was wonderful.

We saw the five of the biggest cats in the world such as the jaguar, snow leopard, lion, white lion and the white tigers! The terrifyingly intense bat house had a stench so strong it made it hard to breath. The funniest thing at the park were the hilarious meerkats. We found out that they they come from the Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa. The trip was absolutely Fabulous. We enjoyed all of the day and we would all love to go back . There were parts of Paradise Wildlife Park we did not see, but what we did see was amazing, spooky and hilarious. Thank you to our teachers for organising this great experience.

Yes 2 Chess Hyde Park Fun Day

Report by Tung (Y6)

yes2chess01-logoOn Wednesday 24th June 2015, Mrs Niner took eight players from Chess Club to participate in the Yes 2 Chess Fun Day at Hyde Park. The people who went were Jaydan, Robbie, Faisal, Maryem and Haya from Y5, and Dan, Navead and me, Tung, from Y6. It was an exciting, but hot day. We took the underground using the Northern, Victoria and Central Lines. When we arrived we watched a giant chess match where actors were live chess pieces! We got to guide the actors in a match and Woodcroft won! Each of us were given a chess set goodie bag to finish off a great day.
